Values & Ethos

Leigh Trust Values

At Summerfield Primary School, we believe every child deserves an ambitious, knowledge-rich education that enables them to flourish academically, socially and personally.

Our curriculum has been carefully designed to inspire curiosity, develop confidence and provide every child with the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to achieve success both in school and beyond. We want our pupils to develop a genuine love of learning, think critically, solve problems creatively and become confident, independent learners who are ready for the next stage of their education.

Through high-quality teaching, enriching experiences and carefully planned opportunities across the curriculum, we ensure that every child can achieve their full potential. Our curriculum is broad, balanced and inclusive, enabling children to develop academically whilst also nurturing their character, wellbeing and sense of belonging.

At Summerfield, continual improvement is at the heart of everything we do. Leaders and staff work collaboratively to evaluate and refine our curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of our children and reflects the highest expectations. We are committed to providing an education that prepares children not only for examinations, but for life in modern Britain and the wider world.

Everything we do is underpinned by the Leigh Trust's CARES values, which shape our curriculum, relationships and school culture every day. Together, these values help our children become compassionate, ambitious and responsible members of their community.

Our CARES Values:

Our children are encouraged to demonstrate the Leigh Trust's CARES values in everything they do:
  • Creativity – using imagination, exploring new ideas and approaching learning with curiosity and confidence.
  • Aspiration – believing in themselves, aiming high and working hard to achieve their goals.
  • Respect – treating everyone with kindness, empathy and dignity, celebrating diversity and valuing different perspectives.
  • Excellence – taking pride in their work, embracing challenge and always striving to be their very best.
  • Supportive – helping others, working together and creating a school community where everyone feels safe, valued and able to succeed.
